Senior dating sites have changed a lot in the past decade. Online dating for seniors is no longer a niche; it is a normal way for single adults in their fifties, sixties, seventies and beyond to meet people. But the choice is bewildering. Some senior dating sites are made specifically for older adults, some are big general services with older members, and some are built around a shared faith. Each works differently, charges differently and attracts different people. This guide explains how to choose, then compares four senior-friendly services we partner with: eHarmony, SilverSingles, Christian Mingle and Zoosk. Updated October 2026.

Disclosure: we may earn a commission when you sign up through links on this page. That does not influence our assessments, and we state clearly where a site has drawbacks or where we could not verify a claim.

Our quick verdict

  • Best for serious relationships: eHarmony. A detailed compatibility quiz and a reputation, according to the site, for serious relationships. It is our top US partner.
  • Best for an older crowd: SilverSingles. Built for people over 50.
  • Best for shared faith: Christian Mingle. Faith is the point of the site.
  • Best for sheer size: Zoosk. The largest membership of the four, according to the site.

What to look for in a senior dating site

Ignore the marketing slogans and judge a site by the following criteria.

1. Who is actually on it

A site's age range matters more than its total size. A service with tens of millions of members is not much use if most are decades younger than you. Look for a site whose published age range matches yours, and always set your own age filter.

2. How it matches you

There are two broad approaches. Browse-and-search sites let you scroll through profiles and message people. Matchmaking sites ask you to complete a questionnaire and then suggest compatible people. Matchmaking tends to suit people who dislike endless browsing; searching suits people who know exactly what they want. Many seniors prefer matchmaking because it is slower and more thoughtful.

3. What is free and what is not

Almost every service lets you join and make a profile for free. Most then require a subscription to send messages or see all photos. That is normal, but you should know before you invest time. We cover this in depth in our guide to free dating sites over 50.

4. Safety and moderation

Older adults are targeted by romance scammers. Look for sites with clear reporting tools and a privacy policy you can understand. Whatever site you use, you are the best defense. Our safe senior dating sites guide explains the warning signs.

5. Cancellation

Many plans renew automatically. Before you pay, find out where to switch off renewal. If you are weighing eHarmony in particular, see how to cancel eHarmony.

6. Values and goals

Are you looking for marriage, a long-term partner, a companion for travel, or friendship first? Faith, family and lifestyle often matter more after 50 than they did at 25. Choose a site whose culture fits what you want.

Detailed look at each site

eHarmony: our top pick for serious relationships

eHarmony is a matchmaking service. Instead of browsing, you answer a compatibility quiz, and the site connects you with people who share your values, interests and goals. According to the site, members are 30 and older, which is a better fit for most seniors than services that start in the twenties. It is known, according to the site, for serious relationships.

On its homepage, eHarmony says it starts as a free site through Basic membership: you can take the quiz, view profiles, send and receive initial likes and first messages, and see who visited your profile. Premium unlocks all photos, who viewed you, your complete Personality Profile and search filters. The homepage lists no prices, and we could not verify dollar amounts on an official pricing page. That means you should check the cost page on the site and compare plan lengths before you commit. Our eHarmony cost guide explains how the pricing works.

Pros: thoughtful matching, older-leaning age range, a free profile and quiz. Cons: a long questionnaire, a paid tier needed for the full experience, and you cannot simply browse everyone. Read the full eHarmony review, or ask whether it is right for you in is eHarmony worth it for seniors.

SilverSingles: designed for people over 50

SilverSingles is the only partner here aimed squarely at the over-50 crowd, with about 11 million members according to the site. It uses a personality questionnaire to suggest matches. It is free to explore according to the site. Third-party reviewers report that free accounts see blurred photos and a limited number of daily suggestions, and that messaging needs a paid plan. We could not open the official site to confirm, and reviewer details differ, so check on registration.

Pros: an age-appropriate community, simple matchmaking. Cons: a smaller pool than the biggest sites, paid plan needed to chat. Read the SilverSingles review, and compare it with eHarmony in eHarmony vs SilverSingles.

Christian Mingle: for shared faith

Christian Mingle describes itself as built for believers. According to the site it has about 15 million members and accepts adults from 20, so you will want to filter by age. It is free to start. Third-party reviews say free members face limits on messaging, and the company has changed its subscription benefits, so confirm the current rules in your account. If a shared faith is non-negotiable for you, this is the most direct choice among our partners. See the Christian Mingle review and our hub on Christian dating sites over 50.

Pros: faith-centered community. Cons: wide age range, messaging limits on free accounts.

Zoosk: the largest pool

Zoosk reports about 30 million members according to the site, and says its matching learns from your activity. That size can be helpful in smaller towns, but it also means you will sort through many profiles, including many younger people. It is free to start; third-party sources say messaging requires a subscription, which we could not confirm on the official homepage. Read the Zoosk review and eHarmony vs Zoosk.

Pros: big pool, free to start. Cons: general audience, less structured matching for older adults.

Which senior dating site is right for you?

  • You want a committed relationship and like questions: start with eHarmony.
  • You want everyone to be around your age: try SilverSingles.
  • Your faith comes first: choose Christian Mingle, or read about Catholic senior dating if you are Catholic.
  • You live in a small town and want maximum numbers: consider Zoosk and set your filters carefully.
  • You are widowed: take your time and read our guide to dating sites for widows and widowers.

Sites we do not partner with

You will see other names in search results, such as Match, OurTime and SeniorMatch. We have no affiliate partnership with them, so we discuss them neutrally and do not link to their sites. Our comparison of eHarmony vs Match and our SeniorMatch review give you a fair picture. You may also see EliteSingles listed on older roundups; industry press reported that it shut down on 30 April 2026, and we have not confirmed whether it has relaunched, so we do not recommend it. For other options, see eHarmony alternatives.

Getting started: a simple plan

  1. Pick two sites, not six. One matchmaking site and one with a different style is enough.
  2. Write a profile that sounds like you. Mention specific interests, the kind of relationship you want and a little about your values.
  3. Use recent photos. A clear smile and a couple of images of you doing something you enjoy.
  4. Be patient. Give each site a few weeks of regular use before judging it.
  5. Move to a call, then a public meeting. Never send money, and tell someone you trust where you are going.
