How to cancel your eHarmony subscription, turn off auto-renewal, and hide or delete your account, with the refund rules from eHarmony's own Terms.

Updated October 2026. Knowing how to cancel eHarmony before you subscribe is one of the best habits you can build, because the service renews automatically. This guide walks you through how to cancel your eHarmony subscription on the web, on iPhone and on Android, how to hide or permanently delete your account, and what eHarmony's own Terms say about refunds. We checked eHarmony's help center, its FAQ and its Terms and Conditions in October 2026. Menu names can change, so if your screen looks different, use the closest matching option or ask Customer Care. This is part of our eHarmony guides for Catholic singles over 50 and other mature singles.

Cancelling is not the same as deleting

These are three different actions, and mixing them up is the most common reason people are charged again.

  • Cancelling auto-renewal stops future charges. Your paid access continues until the end of the term you already paid for.
  • Hiding your profile makes you invisible to new matches but does not stop billing.
  • Deleting your account permanently removes your profile and messages. It is not an automatic way to stop a subscription, so cancel renewal first.

Before you start: where did you subscribe?

Where you cancel depends on where you paid. If you subscribed on the eHarmony website, you cancel in your eHarmony account. If you subscribed inside the iPhone app, you must cancel in your Apple subscriptions. If you subscribed through the Android app, you cancel in Google Play. eHarmony's help center states that it cannot manage Apple store subscriptions for you, and that deleting the app does not cancel anything.

Not sure which one you used? Check your email receipt. A receipt from Apple or Google means the store handles billing. A receipt from eHarmony means you cancel in your account.

How to cancel eHarmony on the website

  1. Log in to your eHarmony account on a computer or in your phone's web browser.
  2. Click the down arrow next to your portrait at the top of the screen.
  3. Select Data & settings.
  4. Choose Amend subscription. In the US, the option may be labeled Cancel auto renewal.
  5. Read the cancellation details. The page includes a link at the bottom to start the process.
  6. Continue to the confirmation page, and save a screenshot or the confirmation email.

eHarmony's Terms also say you may tell Customer Care you want to cancel by live chat, which may not be available to every member or at every hour, or by written notice by mail, which should include the email address on your account. We do not reproduce the mailing address here because it can change. Take it from the current Terms on eHarmony's site.

How to cancel eHarmony on iPhone

If you subscribed through the Apple App Store, eHarmony cannot cancel it for you. Open your iPhone's Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, select eHarmony and choose to cancel. Exact wording depends on your iOS version. Apple's own support pages explain the current steps.

How to cancel eHarmony on Android

  1. Open the Google Play app.
  2. Tap your profile icon at the top right.
  3. Go to Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
  4. Select your eHarmony subscription.
  5. Tap Cancel subscription and follow the on-screen instructions.

Uninstalling the eHarmony app does not cancel your subscription or stop scheduled payments.

Timing: do not wait until the last day

eHarmony's Terms say cancellation of auto-renewal must be initiated at least 24 hours before the end of your current term. Do not rely on the final day. We suggest cancelling as soon as you know you might not continue, since you keep access anyway. The Terms also explain that plans renew automatically, and one section refers to consecutive 12 month terms, so a missed deadline can mean a long commitment. If you are still deciding, read our guide to eHarmony cost to see how pricing and renewal work.

If you pay in installments, the Terms say cancelling does not stop scheduled payments until the balance is paid in full. Check your plan before you assume the charges will end.

Will I get a refund?

As eHarmony states in its Terms, a standard cancellation ends your subscription at the end of the paid term and you will not receive a refund for unused days. There are a few limited exceptions:

  • The Terms describe a right to cancel before midnight of the third business day after the agreement date for residents of certain states, with a refund within a set period after notice. Whether it applies depends on where you live and the exact wording of the Terms.
  • For purchases made through Apple or Google, refunds are handled by Apple or Google, not by eHarmony.

We cannot tell you whether you qualify for a refund, and we cannot give legal advice. If you believe you were charged in error, contact eHarmony Customer Care in writing and keep a record, and contact your card issuer if the problem is not resolved.

What happens after you cancel

You keep your paid features until the term ends. After that, you should expect the limits of the free Basic membership, which eHarmony describes as including limited messaging, so unlimited messaging and full photo access stop. If you did not delete your profile, it remains in your account until you hide or delete it.

How to hide or delete your eHarmony account

Option 1: Hide your profile

If you only want a break, hiding is gentler than deleting. According to eHarmony's FAQ:

  1. Log in and click the arrow beside your photo.
  2. Select Data & Settings.
  3. Under Profile Visibility, switch the slider to hide your profile.

The change takes effect immediately and removes you from other members' match lists. Members you are already in contact with, or who saved you as a favorite, may still see your profile.

Option 2: Permanently delete your profile

Deletion is permanent. You lose your messages and matches, and the profile cannot be restored.

  • If you have an active subscription: use the Contact Customer Care button on eHarmony's delete page to start the process.
  • If you have no active subscription: log in, click the arrow beside your photo, choose Data & Settings, find Profile Status, click the link to permanently delete your profile and enter your password to confirm.

Before you delete, consider whether you might return. Starting over means answering the long questionnaire again.

Checklist so you are not charged again

  1. Cancel auto-renewal where you bought (website, Apple or Google).
  2. Save the confirmation page or email.
  3. Note your term end date and check your card statement afterward.
  4. Only then, hide or delete your profile if you want to.

If eHarmony was not the right fit

Leaving does not mean giving up on meeting someone. Some people prefer a site designed for a specific age group or faith.
